Today we have a post from JOSHUA AYRES PHOTOGRAPHY. Joshua is located just ouside of Wichita, KS and has a fine art approach to photography that he believes appeals to modern brides. He always tries to capture emotion and tell a story with his images. We hope you enjoy his post!
In a digital age the wedding album may not seem as important as it used to be, but it is a timeless way to enjoy your wedding photos. If you are getting married, or are already married, I would highly encourage you to consider a wedding album to showcase your beautiful photographs. Seeing your wedding photos on the computer or your phone is nice and convenient, but there is nothing quite like seeing your images in a high quality, flush mount, leather bound album. Albums are an investment and one that you will appreciate throughout the generations.
There are numerous album companies to choose from and it can be difficult for a photographer to choose the best one. Recently I have started using Madera Books and I couldn’t be happier. Their leather book looks amazing inside and out. I just received a sample album with some images from Jami & Gary’s beautiful wedding. There are so many reasons why I love Madera Books but here are a few of them that really stand out to me.
First, their soft leathers look and feel amazing. You can really get a sense of the quality of the album just from holding it. I also love their style of imprinting which can either be embossed on the front cover, or the spine, or both. It is very modern and clean looking.
Here is what it looks like on the spine.
Inside the album is gorgeous as well. Madera uses photographic paper in order to ensure that the images look their best.
The pages are sturdy and lay flat when open.
I personally like to design albums with a simple white background so that it is clean and the arrangement of images becomes the main design element of each spread.
I also like to design spreads so that sometimes an image will continue from one page to the next. Madera does an amazing job of making the center of the spread, where if folds, almost invisible. It really helps the flow of the images and the continuity of the spread.
Look how this image seamlessly flows from one page to the next.
Here are a few more pictures of this beautiful album.
Thank you Joshua for sharing your wonderful images!

Today we have a post from KATIE NESBITT PHOTOGRAPHY. Katie is a Virginia wedding photographer that is obsessed with junk food, reality tv, weddings and DIY projects. She is also an editor and co founder of Marry & Bright, Virginia’s first wedding inspiration blog. Enjoy!
I’ve been meaning to write this post for some time now, but I just never really had a chance to sit down and do it. Now that I’ve finally got a few minutes to write about these gorgeous albums, I’m REALLY excited to share them with you guys!
After researching a few album companies, I settled on Madera. The books are absolutely beautiful. Hands down they’re my absolute favorite way to look at my images! I want each and every one of my clients to have one!!
Each page features an artfully designed layout designed to tell the story of the wedding day. Images are printed onto archival quality photographic paper, then mounted onto a thick and durable substrate. These pages mean business. They wouldn’t bend if the Incredible Hulk tried to bend them. Super durable. And all of the pages lay flat too!
The books are bound in buttery leather covers (that smells amazing!). They also come with an incredible leather storage case!
Albums are truly meant to stand the test of time in a way that Facebook albums or cloud storage galleries can’t or won’t. Technology changes almost at the speed of light, and a wedding album is so low tech, its almost ahead of the curve. It’s going to outlast Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and yes, even Google Plus. These albums also aren’t printed on cheap, flimsy paper and slapped together like photo books. They’re handcrafted, and you can tell by looking at them. They’re freaking awesome. You can bet that they’ll be the thing you pull out every year on your anniversary to remember what your wedding day was like, when otherwise it’s nothing but a hazy memory in your mind. They’re what your children and grandchildren will look through one day. And, the awesome part is, they’re made to withstand years and years of touching, page turning, and perusing. If you couldn’t already tell, I’m pretty obsessed with them, and I know if you take a peek at one, you’ll be obsessed too!
Thanks Katie for sharing your lovely pictures!

This week we have a post from PAISLEY PHOTOGRAPHY. Paisley Photography is a Calgary and Cochrane based International Wedding and Family Photography Company and Chantal is the girl behind the lens. Yellow is her favorite color, she loves antiquing and though she loves roller coasters, she passes out ever time she goes on one. Enjoy!
When I first started my hunt for the perfect wedding album for my Brides & Grooms I was overwhelmed by the amount of cheap looking photo books. Then I found Madera Books! I am head over heels in love with these books, and beyond thrilled to be offering them to my wedding clients. Their full wrapped 8×10 picture covers, the thick lay flat pages and did I mention they come in beautiful leather, magnet seal boxes! Swoon! I love creating these custom made books for each of my wedding clients. However what I love even more is seeing the faces of my couples as they see their book for the very first time. I am so glad I found this amazing book company!
Thank you Chantal for sharing your wonderful pictures!

We’re setting up a pop-up craft coffee shop in the Madera Books Suite at The Signature – Tower 1 Room 11-602. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8-11am and 2-5pm we’ll be there slinging espresso, cortados, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brew, pour-overs and pastries… and maybe even something a little stronger in the afternoons.
And just so we’re clear, it’s on us.
Come hang out with us and our friends from Post House and drink some AMAZING coffee… and maybe look at some books and talk about outsourcing your postproduction. Or just drink some coffee.
Come every day.
Come twice a day.
Tell your friends.
We have a post from BETH HAMILTON PHOTOGRAPHY today. Beth is a photographer based in Virginia. She loves animals, food and celebrity impersonations…and if you’re good at them you might just become her best friend. Enjoy!
I’m a little embarrassed that I haven’t posted any pictures of this before now, but I’m very excited to share my new and improved engagement guest books! Last fall, I started using Madera for my guest books in addition to my albums and I am in love! These albums are high quality and they are BEAUTIFUL!
In the image above, you can see that the album has a photo cover that wraps all the way around the front and back of the book. These beauties also come with a nice suede-lined box so that you can keep it safe!
The pages are folded in the center of the book and lay completely flat.
I love this feature because it allows images to go across the center of the page seamlessly!
Since these books are intended to have at your wedding reception for guests to sign, there is plenty of blank space left so that they can leave a nice message for you and your new spouse.
Here’s a comparison to my old guest books. You can see that the pages are much thicker and that the book itself if much more substantial. It feels nicer in your hands. I’m so excited to offer these beautiful albums to my wedding clients now!
Thank you so much Beth for letting us share your pictures.
