Madera Books

For the last post of the year we have one by MARIA SHARP.  Maria is a moment seeker, dog lover, IMDb trivia junkie, crazy dancer, and foodie for life. She is based in Cleveland, OH, but available for travel worldwide.  She is featuring our 10×10 linen album in steel. Enjoy!

Wedding photos aren’t meant to be viewed on a computer screen. The photographs are meant for a beautiful album to be cherished for generations to come. One of my favorite parts of the wedding process is designing the album. This is when the storytelling really gets seen. I get to lay out your wonderful day and tell your story. Not every moment or portrait can be hung on the wall, but a curated collection of photographs of your wedding day can be relived in an heirloom album.

I love this beautiful linen album in Steel from Madera Books. The craftsmanship of these albums is incredible. The thick pages and layflat design only enhance its beauty.

“Inspired by the disappearing beauty of the tangible.”

I love that. It’s the mission statement of Artifact Uprising, a relatively new (and unbelievably cool) company that specializes in turning photos taken on mobile devices into something tangible, like an album or prints. It sums up a hugely important aspect of “getting photos done” or even taking everyday photos in general that seems to have been tossed by the wayside. Making something tangible with your images is simply part of the process. Neglect it, and the process is incomplete.

This is part of why I offer wedding albums! You have the opportunity to have a beautiful and tangible way through which to relive your wedding day, share it with others, and pass it down for generations. I design each album myself, taking into account your favorite images. The end goal is to keep the spreads simple and beautiful, unburdened by photo overload, while still allowing viewers to accurately relive the day. Every couple who has ordered an album has raved about how glad they are they did so. I’m telling you, you can love an image on your computer, but you will experience it on a whole new level when you are able to hold it in your hands!

Enjoy this look into two linen wedding albums, both which showcase real weddings. The album with the light tan cover is a sample album that I own and have on hand for anyone interested in seeing the real thing :)

Each album comes with the first names of the couple and their wedding date blind embossed under a cover photo of choice, as seen above.

A standard album is 20 pages long, or 10 spreads. Extra spreads can be added as desired or necessary.

The lay-flat pages make viewing the album even more enjoyable!

Screen Shot 2015-12-08 at 12.39.25

Each album comes with a black box in which you can store your album for safe keeping when you’re not showing it off.

My logo is foil stamped on the inside of the back cover.

The pages are thick and durable, which allows the album to be enjoyed for a lifetime, then some! Don’t worry, this is a sample album… I won’t let Finley help me examine your personal album ;)

Feel free to view an entire album here! Thanks to James and Christina for planning a gorgeous day and for allowing me to use your wedding for my sample album. Seeing as the album pictured above is a sample album for my personal use, I opted out of having the date of the actual wedding embossed on the cover… and I’ll admit I’m not sure why I did this! Honestly. I have no clue.

Bottom line, these albums are gorgeous and worth the investment. Couples are always thrilled to receive them, and I’m sure they’re always amazed by how much fun it is to relive the day through a tangible product!

Thank you so much Tierney for sharing your post!

Hi friends! Today we have a post from OH SNAP PHOTOGRAPHY. Joline is a portrait and wedding photographer based in Boston, MA and she loves meeting new people and documenting life and love.  She is featuring our 10×10 linen book in taupe. Enjoy!

Michelle + John’s Wedding Album was delivered yesterday and I couldn’t wait to photograph some of my favorite spreads and share it with you all. I am over the moon with how beautiful this album came together! I truly love designing wedding albums from photographs during the whole day to tell the story about your unique wedding and love story. My Full Day Wedding Coverage package is the only package that includes a 10×10 20 spread album but albums can be added a la carte to any wedding package and come in a wide array of leathers and linens. They are well worth the investment and are a timeless heirloom for many, many years.

This week’s post is brought to us by ALLISON SHAMRELL PET PHOTOGRAPHY.  Allison works in San Diego, CA, capturing the personalities of dogs and cats of all sizes & temperaments. She loves mexican food, dog beaches and road trips.  She is featuring our 12×12 in the light brown faux leather.  Enjoy!

Today’s blog post is a bit different – I’d like to show you one of my favorite products! It’s my premium album!

Listen, I don’t kid myself: I know that my clients can make their own photo books and get them printed at a bunch of online labs. And really, that’s fine with me, if they enjoy the process of making it themselves and they expect & acknowledge that a book of that caliber (anything you pay $20-40 for) isn’t going to last terribly long. I know that option exists – heck, in college, I made those kinds of books myself! – and so that’s why I set out to provide my clients with something so entirely different, there couldn’t possibly be any way to describe it in the same category. And thus, my premium albums were born! You’ve never seen books like these – let alone such high-quality albums for pet photography!

Here are a few qualities my clients have come to expect in their premium album:

~ 100% custom design. I create the entire photographic story & handle all the design work, from start to finish. I welcome my clients’ input & preferences, of course, but don’t worry: I do all the work.

~ Heirloom-quality construction. An amazing company called Madera creates my albums entirely by hand – you can see their process here in this awesome one-minute video if you’re curious.

~ Gorgeous leather finish with custom embossing. The kind that makes you say “wow” when you runs your hands over it.

~ Pages so thick, you’d never accidentally tear them. Reinforced backing gives the pages (which are real photographic prints!) substantial weight.

So take a look at the most recent premium album to arrive at my studio – Yuma‘s!

Yuma’s name is embossed on the front cover, a subtle yet unmistakable custom touch.

My logo is foil-printed on the inside front cover! Yay!

Lay-flat binding & page construction. You don’t see this every day.

Here are close-up images of a few pages in Yuma’s book…

adore quotes alongside images. I have my favorites, and I include my clients’ faves too… they help tell the story even more beautifully.

And just for fun, here’s a screenshot of my album design software! I love it because it gives me total freedom to arrange images & quotes however I want… and I’ll be honest, designing a whole album is an intensive process, but I find it quite fun!

Thank you for sharing this post with us Allison!
